Collection: About Me
Like many others in 2020, I was out of work (thank you pandemic). One day I was employed, the next I had an incredible amount of free time that I needed to fill.
At first, all I did was grow my hair and mustache as long as I could, and ride my bike. I needed to clear my mind so I rode until I could neither walk nor think about how the world was ending.
After a while it was clear that I wasn’t making the Olympic team and needed to find an additional hobby to fill my days. I’ve always been a doodler and creatively inclined, so one day I decided to buy a sketch book and a pack of black sharpies. With the bare basics, I drew for hours after each morning ride… and “DarkLines” was born.
I started doing custom drawings for friends and strangers alike and I will forever be grateful for everyone that bought work from me then and now. It not only helped pay the bills while jobless, but, more importantly, gave me the confidence to unleash a big part of myself that I had suppressed for so long.
One thing lead to the next and I fell in love with digital art. And here we are. I’m always striving to expand and evolve, and I just want to say thank you to everyone that has followed along as I experiment with new places my art can take me (Prints, custom work, clothing, whatever I can stick my doodles on..) Be yourself, don’t worry what anyone thinks, and make cool stuff. If you like it, someone else will.
Much Love,
Matthew
